Projects
Reedy Creek Project
A multi-year restoration project that aims to return critically impaired streams in the Reedy Creek park to natural conditions. These streams were severely incised causing serious erosion issues. The Charlotte stormwater service and parks department partnered to improve the quality of the streams within Reedy Creek park in order to increase the water quality for all the species that call the park home. You can learn more about the project at the website below. |
Water in Society
- A 3-year IUSE Engaged Student Learning: Exploration project (DUE-1609598) focuses on the iterative design, implementation, and study of a new, interdisciplinary course for non-majors – SCIL/AECN/NRES 109: Water in Society – at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). The project will impact undergraduate students, primarily freshman, over three years, including students from low-SES backgrounds and underrepresented groups from Nebraska and beyond. The project promotes cross-fertilization between hydrology, STEM education, and the decision sciences. By targeting 1st-year undergraduate students (i.e., STEM majors and non-majors), the project has the strong potential to impact the STEM workforce of tomorrow as well as cultivate water literacy.
