Destini N. Petitt, PhD
Hey y'all! Nice to meet you!I am the Environmental Studies Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Brevard College in Brevard, NC. I am responsible for teaching a variety of classes with an emphasis on the environment.
My PhD work was completed in summer of 2022 at the University of North Carolina - Charlotte where I received a PhD in Infrastructure & Environmental Systems. During my time at UNCC, I studied under Dr. David Vinson and researched the efficacy of the Reedy Creek stream restoration project to meet restoration goals related to groundwater storage, water quality, and total suspended solids. My masters graduate work was completed in 2018 at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln where I received a MS Natural Resource Science. During my time at UNL, I studied under Dr. Cory Forbes and researched how students use their priority values to reason about socio-hydrological issues, as well as conducting water literacy research in an undergraduate water course. My undergraduate work was completed in 2016 at Lees-McRae College where I received a BS Wildlife Biology. For my omega I studied under Dr. Sean Collins and researched riparian stabilization with native plants along two streams and a mill pond in Banner Elk, NC. Check out my social media!
